We are an enthusiastic mixed Anglican choir, who strive for high musical standards, under the direction of our Director of Music. As we meet and sing on the same day, rehearsal times can sometimes be limited, so it is important that members are reasonable sight-readers, allowing us time to spend on dynamics, shaping and phrasing. All music can be provided prior to the day if required, to help members become familiar with pieces ahead of the rehearsals.

Typically, evensongs are on Saturday or Bank Holiday Monday dates, with services generally around 5.30 p.m., although this may vary depending on the specific Cathedral or Abbey.

Neil A Page - Director of Music

After nearly 40 years of exceptional leadership, Neil has decided to step back from his role as Musical Director of In Ecclesia later this year.

In Ecclesia was originally established from former members of St. James’ Parish Church choir, Trowbridge in the mid 1980’s, as a way of maintaining high quality choral music during a time when many churches were seeing a decline in musical standards. Neil was enthusiastic to become our organist and we were delighted that

he became our Musical Director some years later. During this time, Neil has grown the choir’s reputation amongst cathedral deaneries and maintained an extraordinary level of commitment, enthusiasm and dedication which we shall all greatly miss.

Neil’s final evensong with In Ecclesia will be on Saturday 2 September 2023 at St. James’ Parish Church, Trowbridge.
